Monday, December 9, 2024: The Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception (Holy Day of Obligation)

In a memo to the U.S. Bishops, the Vatican confirmed that the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception usually celebrated on the 8th day of December must be transferred and observed as a Holy Day of Obligation on the 9th day of December since the 8th day of December in 2024 is the 2nd Sunday of Advent. In light of this new directive, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, Monday, December 9, 2024 is to be observed as a Holy Day of Obligation.
